On the morning of January 4th, Xing Xinhui，the professor of Tsinghua University was appointed as an adjunct professor of our college, and the appointment ceremony was held in B104 of No. 1 Teaching Building in Pingyuan Campus. Wang Yanjie, one of the vice president of our college attended the ceremony along with more than 100 teachers and students in School of Life Science and Technology, and Lu Longdou, the associate dean of School of Life Science and Technology, presided at the ceremony.
At the beginning of the ceremony, in opening remarks, Wang Yanjie gave a brief introduction of Professor Xing and extended a warm welcome to him. Wang pointed out that the appointment of Professor Xing was an important result of the implementation of the strategy of “Enhancing College by Talents” in the transformation of application-oriented college, and the teachers and students in School of Life Science and Technology should change the way of thinking under the guidance of Professor Xing, broaden the horizons, actively participate in the research, and improve comprehensive qualities. Then, Wang issued a letter of appointment for Professor Xing and took a photo with him.
Professor Xing expressed his gratitude to the appointment and gave a lecture entitled “The Principle and Application Practice of ARTP Biological Breeding Technology”. In this lecture, through a large number of basic and applied research results, he introduced the biological mutagenesis principle and the application and development of ARTP from the aspects of green healthy bio-industry, improvement of new varieties, the effect of ARTP on cells and the development and industrialization of ARTP biological breeding equipments. At last, he was enthusiastically interacted with teachers and students.
Lu Longdou gave a summing-up speech that he warmly welcomed an appointment of Professor Xing as our adjunct professor and thanked for his wonderful report to our teachers and students, at the same time, he pointed out that ARTP, as a new technology of mutation breeding, had a broad application space and had great significance to teachers' and students' scientific research and work, and hoped that Professor Xing and our university would have deeper cooperation.
A Brief Introduction of Xing Xinhui
Xing Xinhui, a professor and doctoral supervisor of Tsinghua University. In 1985, he graduated from Department of Applied Chemistry at South China University of Technology, and in 1992, he received his doctorate of biological engineering in Tokyo Institute of Technology. In 1992, he became an assistant professor of biological engineering in Tokyo Institute of Technology, and in 1998, he was appointed as a lecturer and an associate professor of Engineering in Yokohama National University. Since 2000, he has been working in Department of Chemical Engineering of Tsinghua University as the deputy director of the department and the head of Biochemistry Institute. Main research directions: biochemical engineering,biological evolution technology and equipment, enzyme engineering, metabolic engineering, environmental biotechnology and bio-energy. He published more than 500 papers, among which more than 150 ones are of SCI journals, more than 100 patents (including one international patent) and more than 60 licenses.
