On August 5, the 2018 Sanquan College Summer Study Exchange Program jointly organized  by our College and La Roche college in the United States was successfully concluded.

The exchange lasted 17 days from July 20 to August 5. Five teachers and students from our college went to Pittsburgh, USA to participate, which mainly includes medical English course study, hospital visit, expert exchange and cultural experience.

Medical English course learning is mainly composed of two parts, namely, medical English terminology training, and English listening and speaking courses. Christine and Darcey were the teachers for such student-centered and interactive courses with years of teaching experience. Professor Wen Hong, director of the first teaching and research section of Sanquan English Department said, the flexible classroom of the United States has greatly stimulated students' enthusiasm for English learning, which inspired Sanquan's future teaching methods.

In order to deepen the students' understanding of American medicine, nursing Professor Terri liberto was invited to give a lecture on similarities and differences of medical care between China and the United States. Students were then guided to visit the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Hospital (UMPC), from its emergency department to the various departments such as the cancer center. With the explanation of medical staff, students deeply understood the medical system, management system and the settings of different departments in the United States. Through visits, exchanges and experiences, the students have deepened their understanding of the American healthcare industry, and at the same time, have made their career development more clear.

After studying, our teachers and students experience Pittsburgh local culture and understand the history of Pittsburgh steel city under the leadership of American colleges and universities. Our teachers and students visited Pittsburgh North Park, Carnegie science and Technology Museum, retired submarines, and saw the laser light performance of Michael Jackson music.

Through the study, the students improved their English communication ability, broadened their horizons. At the same time, they exchanged ideas with Korean international students who studied in the United States, and gained a precious transnational friendship.

During their stay in the United States, our teachers and students were warmly received by Howard Ishiyama, vice president of lauroch University; Michael Bauer, director of International Department; and Laura Whitman, director of ESL project department. Howard expressed his gratitude to the leaders of our school for their strong support and help in the cooperation between the two schools. He stated, this year is the third project jointly carried out by the two schools. Since the first visit and exchange between teachers and students, the solid professional quality and energetic character of Sanquan teachers and students have left a deep impression on our teachers and students.
