On October 18, the 2nd Henan International Cultural Festival for Educators and Students from China and Abroad—themed “Blossoms Along the Belt, Songs Along the Way”—kicked off at North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power (NCWU). Our university (NHMU) was represented by teachers and students.
With nearly 2,100 attendees—including 73 Henan universities’ teachers and students, and over 600 foreigners from 40 countries—the festival hosted art shows, cultural displays, an Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) market, food tasting, and an award ceremony. It facilitated Sino-foreign cultural exchange, and our university took home the “Best Presentation Award” for its great cultural display.
At our university’s exhibition area, students took full charge of planning, setup, and on-site commentary to vividly showcase cross-cultural charm. In the “Five Continents Cultural Area”, Nigerian students in vibrant traditional attire displayed West African-style handicrafts while sharing local culture, attracting visitors to stop and interact. A special interactive session for the traditional Chinese game “Zhua Shizi” (grabbing pebbles) was also held here; the casual, fun activity bridged cultural gaps and created a lively atmosphere with enthusiastic participation.
In the food tasting area, our university’s Indonesian specialties—Indomie Mi Goreng (fried noodles) and stuffed tofu—won wide acclaim. The freshly fried tofu had a crispy exterior and tender interior, while the noodles were aromatic and flavorful, becoming a site highlight. Teachers and students queued up to taste them, making our exhibition area one of the most popular food zones.
The event effectively boosted Sino-foreign educational exchanges and showcased our university’s solid progress in international education. By joining high-level cultural exchanges, the university further advanced its “quality-based development, culture-driven growth” strategy and supported the “Study in NHMU” brand. Going forward, it will deepen international education cooperation, refine its global talent development system, and cultivate high-caliber medical professionals with a global outlook who understand and befriend China—injecting more “strength of NHMU” into Henan’s cultural and educational cooperation with foreign countries.
